Agriculture in Madhya Pradesh
Madhya Pradesh has emerged as a highly successful agricultural state in the country. It is currently the second-largest agriculture state in India and plays a significant role in national food production. The state has received the prestigious Krishi Karman Award four consecutive times for outstanding performance in food grain and wheat production.
Farm mechanization in Madhya Pradesh is rapidly advancing, with high adoption rates in major crops like wheat and gram, driven by the central SMAM & CRM schemes and state’s Yantra doot scheme. Seed-bed preparation in the state is highly mechanized (about 70%), sowing 40%, weeding 33%, and harvesting 34%. The predominant agricultural machinery used by farmers includes tractor-operated cultivators (88.14%), seed drills (77.9%), trolleys (73.7%), and threshers (72.0%). The state is featuring a heavily supported mechanized custom hiring services.
Agriculture & Horticulture
